Thumbs up to Goyard Customer Service

As I mentioned on my earlier post, the piping on my Goyard Croisiere has been peeling uncontrollably. And slowly but surely, it had gotten worse. Anyway, I finally got fed up and decided to send it back to the Goyard store so I could let them know that there may be issues with the bag. I'm convinced that I had gotten a defective product. Like I said, the slightest
"bump" on the bag causes the paint to chip - which is totally unacceptable especially for what you pay for these bags. So, earlier this morning I called the Goyard store to follow up on my bag. I explained to the SA the issues I was having and was relieved to find out that they were going to replace my bag - huge relief!! When I asked the SA if this was a common occurrence, she said "No" and that "...t0 be honest, It looks like someone scratched the paint off. The only problem we've had with this bag is that we can't keep it in stock". This kinda annoyed me - firstly, the freakin' bag started peeling the very first day I started using it and it only got worse from there. Secondly, other fellow TFSers (www.thefashionspot.com) have also reported similar issues. I thought I was doing Goyard a service by letting them know that there may be quality control issues. I was pretty pissy that the SA insinuated that it wasn't a quality issue but a deliberately caused damage. Come on!!! why would anyone sabotage a bag that they paid so much money for....It's not like I was asking for a refund, I was merely asking for them to take a look at it and exchange it because I firmly believe that I was sold a defective product. But all that aside, they did let me know that they were sending me a new one so for that I give them a thumbs-up!! (I would have given them two thumbs-up but I could have done without the insinuation).......

Burberry Birkin?

I was just doing some window shopping online and decided to venture over to www. saks.com. I was checking out some of the Burberry handbags and stumbled across this. What on earth is this???? Its a cross between a hobo and the birkin? Look at the strap and the lock and the insignia and tell me that this doesn't remind you of the birkin. I think its kinda hideous and definitely unoriginal. Its very disappointing to see that designers have resorted to copying another's design.

Recent Purchase: Hermes Twilly

I am so excited. I was checking out www.hermes.com today and to my astonishment, they had the twilly in the elusive bolduc design - in its signature orange no less! It retails for $115.00. Of course, despite my self-imposed shopping ban, I had to make a quickie purchase. Its not everyday that I can find a twilly that catches my fancy. I also figure that this would satiate my scarf and cuff craving....I'm kinda over the scarf and cuff. Besides, I can wear this as a headband and a "cuff". If you go on their website you'll see the many ways it can be worn.....on your hair, wrist, neck, on your purse...the list goes on and on.

Fall Preview

Prada Cervo-Antic Satchel
I'm in love...I'm in love....I am sooo loving this Prada bag. Love the color, love the shoulder strap, love the size...love the handles.....and the price?? not so in love with....$2450.00.....that is insanity!!! Maybe if I had a gazillion dollars I'd buy it. But knowing that Prada items go on sale at the end of every season - I just cannot justify spending that kind of money on it....I'd still pick the Chanel Cerf over this or better yet, put my money away and save for a birkin...Heck at that price all you need is to add a few hundred dollars more and buy yourself a Cartier watch....It's too too much fo a Prada bag, and on that note, since when did Prada start charging astronomical prices for their leather goods??? The leather isn't even exotic. I think these luxury goods brands are just catching on to the fact that they make a lot more money with their leather goods that they're seeing how far they can sucker people....Not me though, I am no one's sucker, I know a good investment when I see one, and this my friends is not one of those....

Jimmy Choo ankle boots in Chocolate
Speaking of investment, here's what I think a good investment is for the fall since it would never go out of style....Jimmy Choo ankle boots. This is one thing that you can wear forever. The color is exquisite and the style is timeless. Too bad the Prada overpriced as it would match perfectly. Oh well, I have a Bottega hobo in Chocolate that would do for now. This one retails for $650.00

Goyard Frustration

As I've mentioned before, I am having some trouble with my Goyard Croisiere. I have the white one in the 35cm and while I do love it to death, it has also been a source of frustration for me. The paint on the piping is coming off!!!! and I cannot stand it. It is totally unacceptable for a brand that prides itself on its craftmanship to have these issues. The paint is literally peeling off. So I called the closest Goyard store which is in SF and they wanted me send it in so they can take a look at it and repair it. Problem is, I've already taken measures to repair it myself (and in the process, learned a few things on bag repairing). I mean, if I could fix it myself, why go through the trouble of shipping it?? Anyways, to those interested, I've learned that paint coming off of leather can easily be remedied by re-painting it with water-based acrylic paint. When I tried this method, I swear, you wouldn't even know there was ever something wrong with the bag.....Now back to my venting....Goyard peeps, if you are listening, please fix this issue. I don't believe a bag that costs $1690.00 should have these problems! I love this brand and the fact that not a lot of people are familiar with it (not like another luxury brand - LV anyone??) but come on!! Lets step it up people, haven't they heard of Quality Control???

Current Obsessions: Hermes

Here are my current obsessions. Right now, I really want an Hermes scarf which I think I will be using mostly as a headband or maybe a top. This one currently retails for $320.00 (size 36" x 36") and reminds me of the now sold out bolduc (ribbon-design). An Hermes scarf is a wise investment since you will be getting a lot of mileage out of it and if you go on their website, you'll see the many ways you can use it.

Obsession #2 is an Hermes enamel cuff in black. This one is not the exact one I'm lemming. I want the wide one. You can get the wide one on their website for $480.00 (It also comes in an array of colors and sizes but I prefer the black one). The only problem is you'd have to check often since it gets sold out fast as soon as new shipment comes in. Another alternative is ordering it from your local Hermes store and they can track it down for you. Although I think this is very chic, I'm not sure if I like the "H" on it, as I've said before, I like things subtle and I'm not sure if this one is. On the plus side, I think I'd get a lot of use out of this one too and can add that extra "oomph" factor to my accessories. I'll probably think about it some more since I know the store always carries it and I can get one anytime (It's so much easier putting off a purchase when you know you can always get it eventually).

Ashley Olsen and Chanel Cerf

I promised I was gonna post a picture of my Cerf but I haven't gotten around to it yet so I'm gonna post a pic of Ashley Olsen with it instead (She looks better carrying it anyway, despite the fact that it's not the most flattering picture of her). Well, I was debating whether to get this or the Goyard St. Louis tote but decided to take the plunge on this one instead. I love the subtle CC's on this purse and the fact that it really is a timeless classic purse. It's also very practical with its side interiors, as well as a removable zippered pouch. It also comes with a shoulder strap which clips on the handles (although, I probably won't be using it - In my opinion, it clips on an awkward place and looks weird when carried that way). Overall, I was pretty happy with this purchase, and can see myself using it for years to come. FYI, the Cerf comes in an array of colors: black, brown, pink, an ivory (the Ivory, from what I hear, is sold out and is seasonal, according to the Chanel SA's).

Current Obsession: Goyard St. Louis

The St. Louis Tote in Medium. This one currently retails at $785.00 at www. barneys.com. I want one in green sooo bad. Problem is, everytime I see it IRL, I don't like it as much. I just can't bring myself to justify paying for a bag with an interior that is just too blah for words. Also, there seems to be a lot of fakes around - again, another turn-off. I don't wanna get a bag when I know there are a number of fakes lurking around. Otherwise, the bag itself looks very lovely when carried, and is very handy since you can just toss your stuff in. Another plus is that Goyard is customizable which means that you can personalize it to have your initials or whatever design you have in mind hand-painted on the bag. This is the selling factor for me since I am always a sucker for anything unique. I don't know, I'll probably end up buying it in a moment of weakness.

Not just another bag blog

Let me start off with a little introdution on why I decided to create this blog. I am a big fan of bags and an avid collector of purses. I'm 25 years old and have been a bag aficionado from as long as I can remember. My very first designer bag was a mini backpack from Prada - I know, its very old-school but my parents got it for me when I was thirteen and from then on, a bag snob was born....I'm doing this blog because I need an outlet of some sort to share my current obsessions, and hopefully get some insight from other people before I dive in and make ridiculous purchases....Right now, I am lemming anything from Goyard to Chanel...My most current purchase is the Chanel Cerf in black - I will post pictures later....Let me tell you, I must have been obsessing about this bag for over 3 months and was going back and forth debating on whether or not the bag looked grandma-ish....also, it was $1850 plus tax, which is pretty steep for me. Its supposed to be the Chanel "birkin" and I have to say, I agree that it does share some similarities, and it is a good option for those who are not willing to be on the waitlist or spend upwards of $6k for a bag....I am absolutely in love with this bag right now, because not only is it understated (which I like) it is also very practical for work since it's very roomy. I've also recently purchased the Chanel 2.55 in white (which I also love but haven't used since I'm afraid of getting dirty) and the Goyard Croisiere 35 in white(which I also love but am having issues with at the moment - I will discuss this on another thread). So anyways, I hope that whoever reads this will enjoy my insight and share their own views as well....Enjoy!
